For this demonstration, I chose to use a program called Essential Education. I chose this platform because our school is unique. We service sixteen- to eighteen-year-old at-risk youth who deserve a second chance in life. Our teachers must accommodate students of different learning levels. We offer High School Diplomas as well as High School Equivalent Diplomas. Essential Education is perfect for our students. Essential Education is an adaptive learning system that has the ability to personalize lessons based on our students’ abilities. Students can work at their own pace. Students are placed in their levels by taking a self-assessment that places students in the sections that they need more practice in. Not only does Essential Education offer facilities on their own platform but they offer lessons in Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts Reading, and Language Arts Writing. I would argue that this technology is beneficial to the students we service based on the criteria and focus of our school.
I chose this program for its ability to differentiate my lesson plan. It gives the lower-level learner an opportunity to close the gap in the education fundamentals the student may be missing. The advanced learners have the option to test out of any subject that they excel in. This system is designed not to waste the learners' time going over a subject or subject area in which they excel. In the event, that a student tests out of each subject, this program has an option for that student to participate in the college and career-ready courses. This program offers read-a-loud for students who have difficulty reading with comprehension. This program is functional for the teachers. Teachers can adjust what they want to teach and assign all students lessons offered through the curriculum which can be an addition to the lesson plan. Most of all Essential Education offers real-time data for the time spent studying and assessments.
